Let’s get going; stop delaying. Originally an Americanism from show business of about 1910, when companies presenting plays, vaudeville, and circuses toured all over the country, it came to be used more generally by 1940 or so. In Britain it rivals “Let’s get on with it,” a phrase popularized in a variety act of the 1930s and 1940s.
