To leave no evidence behind after doing something. This is so frustrating—our house was totally ransacked after the break-in, but the robbers left no tracks for the police to follow. I'm allowed to use my mom's expensive blender, just as long she can't tell that I ever touched it. So I am very careful to leave no tracks!
