leapfrog over (someone or something)

"Leapfrog" is a children's game in which one player crouches down and lowers their head so that another player can jump over their head and back.
1. To omit, ignore, or exclude something; to skip over something. Don't just let him leapfrog over questions about healthcare during the debate. Make sure he gives a definitive answer. I can't believe you just leapfrogged over the most important part of what I said—that I made $10,000 in one week!
2. To surpass or overcome someone or something, often quickly and to a great degree. We thought we had a solid product, but thanks to a ton of unforeseen bugs, our competitors leapfrogged over us in the market. You need to keep up with your training regimen, or else your opponents will leapfrog over you in terms of endurance.
