jump out

1. Literally, to emerge from something or some place with a sudden leap or dash. The rat jumped out from the hole and bit the man on the ankle. There have been reports of an attacker jumping out from the shadows and mugging people at night.
2. To exit very quickly from a vehicle, especially a car or bus. Thank you for the lift! I'll just jump out here and walk the rest of the way. This is my stop, so I'd better jump out here.
3. To be especially noticeable, conspicuous, or attention-grabbing, especially in comparison to the surrounding people or things. I was trying to find a dress to wear to the wedding, but nothing was really jumping out at me. The painting's vibrant colors really make it jump out from the cream-colored panel.
