What is important is (doing something). It's a matter of sticking with the program in order to succeed. A: "Are you sure we need this expensive antivirus software? I don't really think we're at much risk." B: "It's a matter of protection, but if you want to take your chances, I can't stop you." If you want your students to listen to you, it's a matter of discipline, quite honestly.
