inward man

inward man

One's inward or spiritual life, as opposed to the physical body and other observable aspects of one's life. The phrase appears in the Bible, specifically in 2 Corinthians. Nurturing the inward man is crucial for happiness and fulfillment—external things will only get you so far. Once you recognize the importance of discovering the inward man, your life will be the better for it, I promise you. It doesn't matter how attractive and successful someone is—he will suffer if he does not attend to the inward man as well.
