1. Under the pretense of something. I think your mom is passing a lot of judgment in the guise of concern. They're trying to get insider information on our company in the guise of an audit! I don't know my Secret Santa at all. I'm gonna have to ask her a lot of questions in the guise of getting to know her!
2. In the attire of something. The common girl looked very uncomfortable steeping out in the guise of a princess. I don't know who that woman was in the guise of a nun, but she is not a member of this convent! I would go out in the guise of a witch, but I don't want to scare any little trick-or-treaters.
