In a state of fear, anxiety, or worry; feeling very nervous or frightened. The very thought of having to get up in front of an entire audience brought me out in a sweat. My boss is in a sweat because the IRS has been asking questions about our recent finances. Janine has been in a sweat about her driving test today. I hope she passes and gets her license.
