implicate (someone) in (something)

To intimate or show that someone has been involved in something, usually something nefarious. You know that evidence will implicate us in the crime, right? That's why we have to destroy it! Of course they paid in cash—they knew creating a paper trail would implicate them in the scheme. Turns out, we found your fingerprints at the scene—that's what implicated you in the crime.
