To leave one country to live in another. My great-grandparents immigrated to the US when they were just kids. When I first started watching hockey, it was rare for a Soviet player to immigrate to the US to play in the NHL. In fact, the first players had to defect. I love visiting my mom's relatives in Italy, so I hope they never immigrate to the US!

to migrate into a place from some other place. Many of them immigrated into Minnesota from northern Europe. My family immigrated to Chicago.
