have too much on (one's) plate

To have too many things to do. I just have too much on my plate now that I've got this huge work project on top of the final edits for my graduate thesis. I'll do the printing—Sally has too much on her plate right now to take it on. That sounds like a ton of assignments, though. If you have too much on your plate, you're liable to burn yourself out.
