To be in a position of great success or good fortune, which can help generate further success by giving one confidence, optimism, and determination. After getting such a major promotion at work, Sally really has the wind in her sails these days. With a 3–1 lead in the championship finals, the team definitely has the wind in their sails as they go into the next game. She really struggled in her studies last year, but she's had the wind in her sails ever since changing her major.
