To have the will to do something bold, daring, or impudent; to have the nerve to do something. Wow, I can't believe that intern had the brass neck to ask for a raise on her first day! You really have the neck to ask Mom for money when you know she's in a bad mood? OK, well, you can't say I didn't warn you! I can't believe that girl has the brass neck to push her way to the front of the line like that!
