To be in a position of control, authority, or responsibility over someone or something. The viceroy now has charge of our entire operation. From now on, he shall be the one who determines our next move. The judge decreed that the mother should have charge of the children, despite protests from their father. Thanks to this appointment, the lord will have charge of everyone living in the southeast region of the country.
