To be equally likely to experience or encounter two potential outcomes or scenarios. I think my interview went OK. I probably have an even chance of getting the job. Why not ask her to the dance? You have an even chance of her saying yes or no. I wouldn't risk driving this old junker. You have an even chance of breaking down on the highway or before you even get there!
