To be guiltless or have no feelings of guilt or remorse related to someone or something. Don't you dare accuse me of causing this—I have a clean conscience about the whole thing! I have a clean conscience about Mr. Cratchit. I have never once treated him unfairly! I'll never have a clean conscience about the accident. I know I shouldn't have been driving that fast, and I knew it at the time too.
