have a/the ghost of a chance

To have only a slight chance (of something). After I heard that they required 10 years of experience, I knew that I didn't have a ghost of a chance of getting hired. He knows he only has the ghost of a chance with her, but he's still going to ask her out. Do I even have the ghost of a chance of getting this role? It sounds really juicy, so I must be going up against some big-name actresses.
