To have particular instances in which someone or something is better or can be seen to have more value, especially when that is not always the case. I hate that this mixer takes up so much space on the counter, but it does have its uses. No, don't tell me "it has its uses," Dad—half of the handle is broken off! A: "Hey, this old car still has its uses!" B: "Yeah, as long as you don't have to go anywhere!"
