To be annoyed or unhappy. Primarily heard in US. The outcome of that race left me grumbling in the gizzard—I thought for sure I had bet on the right horse! Come on, anyone would grumble in the gizzard if they were fired as unceremoniously as Bob was. Janet's mean-spirited comment had me grumbling in the gizzard. It felt like a personal attack!
