To bribe someone discreetly or surreptitiously, as by slipping money into their palm. Every lobbyist knows you've got to grease the palm of politicians now and then to get things done the way you want. My dad greased the palm of the administrative board to get me into Harvard. If you want to move our building application to the forefront of the governor's agenda, just grease the palm of the governor's aide.
