grass widower

1. A man who lives apart from his spouse for long periods due to a job location or other circumstances. Janet has had to travel a lot since she got her promotion at work. I'm happy for her, but I've been feeling like a grass widower lately. The politician's husband has become a grass widower ever since she started campaigning for office. I don't think he minds being a grass widower. When his wife travels for work, he can do whatever he wants at home.
2. A man who is divorced, separated, or estranged from or abandoned by his spouse. John became a grass widower after his wife left him for a younger man. Are those two still together? I heard a rumor that he'd become a grass widower. Nobody gets married hoping to be a grass widower one day, but that's just what happens sometimes—marriages end.
