Some new information that is or will likely be pleasing, desirable, or beneficial to someone or something. The fact that the storm is changing direction is some welcome good news for those on the East Coast. After months of declining sales, the company was really in need of some good news. A: "I've got good news and bad news—which do you want to hear first?" B: "The bad news. I'd rather end on a positive note!"
Good News
In the Christian faith, the message of the salvation of Jesus Christ. Also known as the Gospel (the first four books of the New Testament). In this usage, the phrase is often capitalized. I decided to join a missionary group to spread the Good News around the world. Ever since I converted, I've been trying to spread the Good News to other lost souls that remind me of my past self. I didn't go to Catholic school, so I didn't learn the Good News until later in life.
