To appear or be presented in front of someone, especially a person or body of authority. He's going up before the judge to plead his innocence. I have to go up before a panel of professors to defend my thesis this afternoon. Due to her involvement in the plagiarism scandal, Jane will have to go up before the school's disciplinary committee.
