go in(to something) with both eyes open

To engage in some situation or undertake some activity with keen or complete knowledge, awareness, or expectations. Be careful of any contracts they ask you to sign. If you don't go in with both eyes open, you could end up getting yourself into trouble. I got hurt when I was younger because I was unrealistic about what I expected from the girls I was dating. Now I go into new relationships with both eyes open. I know they're offering you a lot of money, but make sure you go into this deal with both eyes open—it could be a scam.
