To continue to fight or resist someone or something until the last moment that one is ultimately defeated. The enemy troops haven't surrendered yet. They've dug themselves in, and I suspect they'll go down swinging. We might not have any real chance of winning this lawsuit, but we're gonna go down swinging! Of course the enemy troops haven't given up yet—I suspect they'll go down swinging.
