go blank

1. To unexpectedly forget something. Can you remind me of your name? I'm so sorry, but I've gone completely blank right now! Wait, what's the extension for IT? My mind just went blank. Right, James Madison! I knew he was the fourth president, and I totally went blank during the test.
2. To lose consciousness. My blood sugar dropped so low during the meeting that I went blank and woke up on the floor. Oh man, Gary hit his head when he went blank? Is he all right? Hey, someone get a medic—this girl just went blank!
3. To no longer show a picture, as of a TV or computer screen. If the TV goes blank again, just smack it a few times—that should help. Um, why did my computer screen just go blank? Yeah, I realized the power had gone out when the TV suddenly went blank and the lights turned off.
