To return to some proven and reliable source of success, talent, good fortune, etc. After dabbling in crime dramas, the esteemed horror writer is going back to the well with a new novel about a supernatural spirit terrorizing a small town in the heartland of America. The candidate has always had strong support with this demographic, so it's no surprise that he has gone back to the well to kick off his reelection campaign. I guess I'll have to go back to the well and release another poppy dance song if I want to keep my singing career alive.
