go a purler

To fall in an especially clumsy or violent manner, often headfirst. (A "purler" is such a fall.) If you're not careful walking on that ice, you'll go a purler! These shoes are too big and caused me to go a purler as I was walking down the street. Don't worry about the baby—now that she's learning to walk, she goes a purler every few minutes, it seems.
