give (one's) name to (something)

To create or invent something that bears one's name as a result. Oh boy, what crazy invention has he given his name to now? Did you know that mother-daughter researchers Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers gave their names to the famous personality test? I know Bill invented that little gadget, but it's so stupid and pointless. If it were me, I wouldn't even give my name to it!
