1. To decide not do something. Unfortunately, I had to give the party a pass because I had a migraine last night. I'd give that movie a pass. I saw it, and it really wasn't good. Next time, if your friends are doing something stupid, give it a pass!
2. To decide not buy, acquire, or utilize something. Those headphones are very overpriced for the quality—I'd give them a pass. I'm afraid we're giving your company a pass this year due to budget constraints. In my opinion, that lip gloss is too thick and sticky. I'd give it a pass if I were you.
