girls' night out

An evening spent among women having an enjoyable time away from home, as in a restaurant, bar, club, or other social location. Tom's going to mind the kids on Saturday so I can have a girls' night out with my besties, Janet and Sarah. OK, this is strictly a girls' night out for dancing and chats. No boyfriends allowed, understood? Sorry, but I've got to go—I'm having a girls' night out with a few of my girlfriends for dinner.
