euphemism Aging; becoming old. Now that I'm getting on a bit, I can't stay up late every night like I used to. So you're getting on a bit, so what? Age is just a number, after all. I'm getting on a bit, and I can't eat all kinds of junk food without gaining an ounce the way I used to. Enjoy it while it lasts, kid!
