get up before (something)

1. To awaken before a certain hour or point in time. This is the first time I've gotten up before noon all summer! I'd better head to bed. I have to get up before 6 AM tomorrow. It's not that I want to get up before 4 AM—I have a 6 AM flight to catch!
2. To awaken before something happens. I love getting up before the sun rises. Make sure you get up before the airport shuttle leaves, or you'll be stranded on the island. Ugh, I always get up before my alarm goes off, it seems. This insomnia is really a drag.
