To be or become overwhelming or excessive. I know she likes to spend time alone, but it's getting to be too much lately. She needs to interact with other kids her age. I wish he knew how to be a bit more reserved. His profuse declarations of love get to be too much at times. When the stress of the big city gets to be too much, I like to go camping in the wilderness for a couple of nights.
