get the go-by

To be disregarded or ignored. Man, none of these pedestrians will stop and talk to me—I keep getting the go-by. Though they've been prolific music-makers for years, they still largely get the go-by from the average listener. Once the economy crashed, many social welfare projects got the go-by, unfortunately.

Inf. to be ignored or passed by. It was my turn, but I got the go-by. Tom stood on the road for fifteen minutes trying to get a ride, but all he could get was the go-by.
