get roped into (something)

To be persuaded, enticed, or enlisted to do or participate in something, especially that which one does not wish to do. I really didn't want to sing in the talent show, but I got roped into it by Janet. I'm sure he got roped into it—nobody just volunteers to help somebody move. I am out of here—there's no way I'm getting roped into a fight between those two!
