get paid under the table

To work in exchange for payment that is not officially documented and has not been taxed. Because I get paid under the table, no taxes come out of my paycheck. I don't have a visa to work in this country, so I've been getting paid under the table as a nanny. As a kid, I would get paid under the table for doing odd jobs. It helped me save up for my first car!
