To be ridiculed, derided, or dismissed with uproarious laughter. You can't present this half-crocked idea to the board—you'll get laughed out of the room! We practically got laughed out of the room when we tried to urge the headmaster to change to a four-day school week. I got laughed out of the room plenty of times before I found an investor who believed in my invention—and look at me now! A success story!
