get in vogue

To become (usually temporarily) fashionable or trendy. Because that sleek hairstyle was way ahead of its time, it took a while to get in vogue. Don't know when red lipstick got in vogue, but it never seems to go out of style. Geez, how did leisure suits even get in vogue in the first place?
