get behind (someone or something)

1. To physically position oneself (or be positioned) behind someone or something. How exactly did the cat manage to get behind the refrigerator? How did this pen get behind the couch? Did you drop it? All of the dog's toys seem to get behind the couch eventually.
2. To support someone or something. I'm sorry, but I just can't get behind an initiative that is going to lead to more layoffs. Management is considering adding a gym to the building? Ooh, I can get behind that! How can you get behind that odious candidate?
3. To like or enjoy something. I know you guys love baseball, but I just can't get behind it—it puts me to sleep! I just can't get behind running as a mood-booster. I'm sure it does work for some people, but I am not one of them! Yeah, they're stupid, but I can always get behind a cheesy horror movie nonetheless.
