To discuss something, often something that is a source of stress or worry. I hate conflict, but I had to get a load off my mind and tell Josh how I really feel about his new girlfriend. Are you OK? You can talk to me, you know, if you need to get a load off your mind. Do you have time to talk? I got some bad news from the doctor yesterday, and I really need to get a load off my mind.
