From place to place. A reference to an ancient form of tennis, which was played in an enclosed court with pillars and posts off of which the ball could be bounced. The later version "from post to pillar" is now more common. We've been going from post to pillar for the past five years. Can't we finally settle down here? They've been sending me from post to pillar looking for the replacement part, but nowhere seems to have it in stock. My ex-husband and I never want our kids to feel as though they're just being knocked from post to pillar, so we've agreed to share custody for a month at a time.
