for (something's) own sake
for (something's) own sake
Of a pursuit of some kind, solely due to it being worthwhile by itself, as opposed to any other reasons. I know I'll never be a famous artist—I paint for its own sake. After getting two English degrees, I can't seem to read for its own sake anymore. I'm happier now that I make videos for their own sake and no longer have to stress about engagement and views.
