feel out of place

To feel as though one is not appropriate for or fitting with the current surroundings or environment. I'm afraid you might feel a little out of place wearing jeans in such a formal venue. I always felt out of place in school, like I was there by mistake. I still feel out of place in this town, but at least I'm at peace with my decision to move now.
