feel like a mushroom

feel like a mushroom

informal To feel like one is being intentionally kept and told lies uninformed about something. Mushrooms commonly grow in dark environments and feed on manure, so the phrase puns on the idea of being kept in the dark (left uninformed) and fed bullshit (lies). Does your boss tell you the truth anything that's going on? When I worked there, I felt like a mushroom—that's why I left! Can somebody please tell me the truth about what happened with this contract? Because the explanation I've been given thus far makes me feel like a mushroom. I don't care if Eddie feels like a mushroom—he simply cannot know what's really going on yet!
