doofer
1. A name for a gadget or thing whose actual name is unknown or has been forgotten. Where's that doofer? I need it to finish this repair. Hand me that doofer or whatever it's called, will you? A: "You need to screw in a little doofer to keep those pieces together." B: "Oh, a 'doofer,' huh? And where am I supposed to find that?"
2. A cigarette stub saved for later use. I knew I was running low on smokes today, so I saved this doofer. Can I bum a cig off anyone? I'm not sure what happened to my doofer. He pulled a doofer out of his pocket and lit up.
