drive a/the/(something's) price up

To cause the price of something to increase. Having this fancy new restaurant in our neighborhood should drive all of our house prices up. A shortage in parts has seriously driven new cars' prices up. Inflation seems to have driven everything's price up!

to force the price of something upwards. Someone is buying a lot of gold and driving the price up. They are driving up the price.
