1. To progress or advance well or satisfactorily. Our fundraiser is doing very nicely—we're already halfway to our goal. The project did nicely before the boss up and quit, but who knows when we'll get it finished now! Everyone in our entire department has done nicely to meet their sales quotas for the year.
2. To be adequate or sufficient. No, don't edit it again—this version will do nicely. Your sister's old school uniform will do nicely for you for now. Once you grow out of it, we'll get you a new one. I'm only staying for one night, so a twin bed will do nicely for me, no problem.
