Get more desirable results by doing a particular thing, even if it has drawbacks. You would do better to go to a school with a stronger program in your field, even if it is farther from home. If you want to find a new job, you'd do better to network with people in your field than to just keep scouring the job listings. You'd do better to get some sleep and wake up early than to pull an all-nighter to finish your paper.
