To free someone or something that is stuck. Fortunately, the Heimlich maneuver dislodged the piece of food from Greta's throat. I kept thrusting down the plunger, trying to dislodge the blockage from the drain. Once we dislodged the old piece from the stove, we were really making progress on this repair.
